The operation was founded in 1978 and is a joint venture with 50/50 ownership between Valeo and OSRAM Sylvania. Our headquarters, including manufacturing and R&D is located in Seymour, Indiana and allows us to be close to our customers: Ford, General Motors, Chrysler, Nissan, Honda, and Toyota. Valeo Sylvania also operates a manufacturing facility in Queretaro, Mexico and a sales office in Dearborn, Michigan. The company is home to nearly 1,500 employees, and we are looking for talented individuals to join our team! This exciting opportunity is designed for students in the Optical Engineering area of study and will offer an introduction to applying Optics and general Engineering knowledge and problem solving to real-world projects in automotive non-imaging optics. Working on headlamp evaluation and characterization techniques and in the laboratory to improve our simulation and troubleshooting techniques, you will focus on the following areas:

•Research and understand the Consumer Reports headlamp beam pattern rating system. •Conduct testing on headlamps on test track to determine what light levels are appropriate for simulating CR test results. •Make recommendations to improve CR headlamp rating simulations. •Determine a system for evaluating headlamp glare in the lab with a camera system to improve troubleshooting techniques.

Must be currently enrolled in an accredited institution pursuing a Bachelor's level degree in an engineering discipline. Must have authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
