Operations Technician

Yoh has a contract opportunity for an OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN to join our client in Gardner, KS.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitors and maintains the transport network.
- Opens trouble tickets and works the repair of complex network equipment/facilities with field operations, tech support and other work groups.
- Understands in-depth equipment specific maintenance procedures and can assist field ops in card swaps and equipment restoration.
- Takes the lead in driving equipment and facility repair.
- Thoroughly understands transport network topology and can make final go/no-go decisions on maintenance based on current network status.
- Analyzes network events and identifies critical issues, setting appropriate priorities to maintain 99.9999% network reliability.
- Has thorough understanding of telecom, network topology and company repair procedures.
- WORKS WITH MINIMAL SUPERVISION IN NOC ENVIRONMENT, SOMETIMES FOR EXTENDED HOURS AND IS AVAILABLE TO WORK ALL HOURS IN A 24X7 ENVIRONMENT.

Job Qualifications:
- In-depth understanding of Transport hierarchy, configurations and platforms
- Perform advanced to complex activities to identify and resolve alarm conditions
- Excellent communication skills and ability to direct restoration activities
- Advanced remote troubleshooting experience
- Ability to work straightforward trouble and/or maintenance assignments related to network equipment in order to resolve both routine and complex trouble tickets
- High level understanding of reviewing logs for historical events when analysing and diagnosing alarm conditions and determining corrective measures

Preferred Job Skills/Experience/Knowledge:
- Five (5) plus years of experience in a Call Center, Surveillance Center, Provisioning Center, Network Operations Center, Engineering, Technical Support or as a Field Technician working with transport platforms
- Advanced provisioning and troubleshooting DS3 through OC192 level circuits
- Advanced SONET and SDH equipment maintenance
- Advanced DWDM equipment maintenance
- Advanced Fiber optics
- Advanced Synchronization/Timing
- Advanced SONET Protection Switching Schemes
- Ability to demonstrate command skill while directing activity on outage bridges
- Associate Degree in Telecommunications in a related field or equivalent work experience (Typically 5 years of relevant experience)
