Essex Outdoors is Essex County Council's provider of outdoor activities.

At Essex Outdoors we believe passionately in the power of outdoor education. Taking the classroom outdoors can broaden horizons, promote positive values, and develop confidence and self-esteem. Outdoor learning can also raise social and environmental awareness.

We now have an opportunity for an Operations Support to join the team. This new role is responsible for individual and face to face customer liaison at the Harlow Outdoors Centre climbing wall, working evenings and weekends during the operational hours of the climbing wall, and to provide additional support for the function of the Centre should the need arise.

This role will actively engage with customers to encourage return business, and contribute to the efficient running of the climbing wall. It is being offered as job share for two (or more) candidates to fulfil the full time equivalent hours.

JOB PURPOSE:

- To facilitate the access by new and existing members to The Lock climbing wall, using a bespoke membership system; and to process payments received.
- To administer any enquires relating specifically to the climbing wall, and/or refer other enquiries to the Centre Operations function for support as required
- To administer bookings for clubs and courses running at The Lock climbing wall
- To facilitate the hire or sale of kit/equipment as required
- To assist in the sale of refreshments to customers
- To assist in the operational administration for the centre as required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

- 5 GCSE's grade C and above, or equivalent (including Maths and English)
- Significant experience within a busy, operations focussed, business environment.
- Competent in MS Office applications and evidence of desire to increase IT skills
- Possession of good inter-personal skills, face to face and over the telephone.
- High level of personal organisation and time management
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to collate and present information from a range of sources
- Ability to develop and sustain superior customer relations to increase return business
- Interest or experience in Outdoor Activities, and the ability to inspire others to engage in similar activities
