SQL Server Operations DBA (2012) - Finance A fantastic opportunity for a SQL Server production support DBA has arisen for a market leading financial services company. This company specialize in data valuation and trade processing across all asset classes. This SQL Server Operations DBA position is unique in the fact that you will be working on a number of the latest technologies including SQL Server 2012, Geo clustering, multi subnet failover clustering as well as exciting automation tools such as powershell. This is a globally dispersed team across multiple locations. This SQL Server DBA will be expected to champion the SQL Server stack and be involved in strategic decision making on all technical issues. This team are looking to implement a 16 node cluster across 4 data centers using Multi subnet failover clustering, they have invested nearly 2 million pounds into SQL Server 2012 and have increased their current database platform from 350 server to 390 servers with all new servers being built in SQL Server 2012. They will be utilizing the latest features of 2012 including a focus on Hyper V technology. They will be involved with business critical upgrades to SQL Server 2012 across a large database platform incorporating over 2000 databases and will be responsible for spearheading the globalization of their current SQL Server platform to accommodate all asset classes. The hands on responsibilities will include: back ups, replication, clustering, mirroring, T-SQL, performance tuning, upgrade, databases design, disaster recovery, the team compromises of a number of senior DBA's therefore anyone joining the team will be expected to be an expert in a least one of the above technologies. This client are renowned for investing heavily in their IT infrastructure and this is backed by the fact that they are on the latest version of SQL Server and they are looking to utilize all new features for the SQL Server platform, they are looking at a number of new tools including solid state disks as well as many others.
