We are currently searching for an Operations Engineer (Application Support) to work in Geneva area, Switzerland. Your mission would be to provide 2nd level support to users on banking applications. This is a fantastic opportunity for a client in banking.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

- Minimum 5 years in an IT banking environment in an application support role.
- Good notion of fiscal reporting (performance, P/L, statements, )
- Good notion of financial instruments, banking operations and reporting
- Experience with an Operational Data Store
- Development/support experience with PL/SQL Oracle et TSQL Sybase
- Development/support experience with Unix (Korn Shell, Bourne Shell)
- Minimum of 5 years of technical experience in an IT operational environment. Technical expertise on a range of IT products and technologies.
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure, change management methodologies, incident/problem solving methodologies

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

- Unix Scripting (ksh, sh)
- PL/SQL Scripting
- TSQL Scripting
- Java (notions)
- Sybase IQ, ASE
- Oracle
- Knowledge of an ETL tool
- Knowledge of cloud computing
- Technical writing capabilities
- Fluent in French and English
- ITIL knowledgeable
- IT engineer or equivalent

KEY DELIVERABLES:

- Operations engineer role to provide a 2nd level support to users on a broad range of applications
- To collaborate with peers (infrastructure, helpdesk), and development teams
- To ensure daily routine activities are performed as expected.
- To propose ways of improving overall quality of service
- To contribute to the reduction in volume of incidents
- Define or improve monitoring of applications
- To contribute to the definition and implementation of operating procedures and operability on new and existing applications, ensuring adherence to the IT Operations standards
- To comply to change management procedures in defining, planning and implementing change in such a way that service disruption is minimized.
- To deliver technical capability to standard and time.
- To communicate risks and issues, including following appropriate escalation procedures.
- To cooperate in coordinated activities between different external groups where required in order to ensure full support and information provided
- To apply technical policies and standards to the system/application supported
- To ensure that appropriate documentation is delivered and continuously improved, such as support procedures or TRP.
- Work out of hours when appropriate to support major implementations or to react to high priority service issues.
- To build relationship with peers in the team. Learn and transfer of knowledge to team members to ensure service coverage during absences.
