SDH/WDM/Ethernet/Fibre/DCN/1st Level Support, Configurations/Testing/Troubleshooting

Are you a Network engineer ready to work for a large vendor? Looking for a new Challenge? Have experience in fibre and SDH? Then this could be the role for you. 12 month rolling contract based in Cape Town, South Africa.

Provides customers with a variety of support services, including but not limited to providing
remote and on-site level 1 operation support (resident at customer's premises or not)
Provides technical support activities such as investigation support, configuration support, problem
resolution identification, network element deployment support, maintenance release and software
update deployment, and on-site training
Provides remote and on-site recovery support in the event of an out-of-service/outage condition
caused by a disaster taking into account the full network traffic status
Escalation to a higher level support on-time in case of difficult or time critical problems or need
due to a configuration control.
Maintain interfaces with customer's technical personnel ensuring smooth information flow about
reported problems and their resolution status as well as other activities with customer
Provide the periodic (Daily, Weekly, .) reports needed to show the network performance
Creates technical documents (ECP's, MOP's) and training material.
Provides problem resolution assistance and training to other technical support personnel as
required.
Participate in technical meetings and conference calls in line with his/her responsibilities.
Participate in Field Trials, Proof of Concepts, Preliminary Acceptance Tests, Customer Demos and
Workshops.
Utilize various tools and knowledge databases available to assist in the troubleshooting process.
Perform administrative tasks in a timeline and accurate manner such as vouchers, time-ticket
reports, overtime reports, and others.
Investigate, isolate and drive problems reported by customer to a closure.

Qualifications
Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills required.
Theoretical and practical (testing, troubleshooting) knowledge of
o Data Communication Network (DCN) topologies and configurations (Mandatory)
o SDH configurations/protections/Synchronization/testing (Mandatory)
o Ethernet configurations/protections/testing (Mandatory)
o WDM topologies/configurations/Protection/testing (Mandatory)
o OTN (Optional)
