Job Description:
Managing all types of digital data/documents including geological, geophysical, reservoir engineering, drilling, engineering, operations, etc., through its life cycle from receipt to disposal.
Resolving data issues.
Ensuring that data received is loaded to project & master data stores correctly & catalogued accurately.
Supporting client Function team (geologists, production engineers, geophysicists, reservoir engineers) with a range of Data Management tasks and activities to manage & control the data used by their teams in project databases/information stores and master data stores.
Responsible for liaising with client team to quality control data and especially if it is project data, document it prior to archival so it can easily be retrieved with associated knowledge.
Ensure project databases are cleaned at regular intervals.
Responsibility for frequent movement of quality controlled interpreted data to the Gold or master data stores, capturing the relevant context information.
Coordinate the archival of data using defined indexing technologies/standards and robust archival processes.
Capacity planning and management, eg disk capacity planning, ensuring there is enough available disk space for their team(s) to use both in the Linux & NT environment.
Acting as a Single Point of Contact for the receipt and distribution of data to and from third parties eg partners, contractors and regulatory authorities, ensuring that data is received and transferred in the appropriate formats and with appropriate audit trail.
Coordinating and help maintain the data their team access via SharePoint, a document management system, shared drive, portal or web-site.
Assisting their team to enable them to maximize the functionality of the tools and data at their disposal.
Implementing elements of global and/or local data management strategies and plans as relevant.
Coordinating data service requests with the IT Data Operations Team and ensure the delivery meets the Function quality standards. Since this is a staff augmentation engagement and hence SLAs are not applicable, the data management specialist shall be managed by client accordingly.
Responsible for delivering data management projects or elements of them for specialism area.
Continuous Improvements
- Reports to be prepared on the basis of Incidents reported in the Problem Management system and unsatisfactory resolutions reported and provide recommendations for improvement accordingly.
- Assist the Company IT SPOC in the investigation and root cause analysis of breakdowns and incidents.
- Assist the Company SPOC in IT in Managing equipment performance, reliability and availability but is not solely responsible.
