Occupational Therapist Technical Instructor

The O.T department within St Andrew's Adolescent service is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated person to join the team within the male pathway in Lowther. As an Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor you will have the opportunity to work with a highly motivated Occupational Therapy team. There will be opportunities to be involved in staff training and professional development as well as regular individual supervision from a Senior Occupational Therapist.

The Lowther Adolescent Service is based at our Northamptonshire site in a purpose-built medium secure unit. The service has been designed to meet the complex needs of adolescents with psychiatric, social, psychological and emotional difficulties, within a secure setting. There is a strong emphasis placed on inter-disciplinary working and providing an integrated, therapeutic and educational programme that uses a variety of treatment approaches.

The post holder will be allocated to Boardman Unit, a 12 bedded male forensic rehab unit working alongside a qualified Senior Occupational Therapist. Duties and responsibilities will include planning and undertaking, as directed by the Occupational Therapist, a selection of individual and group treatments using purposeful activity to enhance and maintain the young person's skills. This includes facilitating a series of leisure pursuits such as arts and crafts and sports activities suitable for young people, facilitating a range of vocational skills such as gardening, and facilitating a range of personal and domestic daily living tasks with the young people in order to increase their level of independence.
