Occupational Therapist

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

£28 PER HOUR LTD

BASED IN SOUTHEND-ON-SEA, ESSEX

TEMPORARY CONTRACT UNTIL 30TH SEPTEMBER 2013

The successful candidate will need to be able to make home visits across the Borough and travel to out of area placements. The successful candidate may also be needed to work outside the core hours and on occasion's weekends.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Contribute to a culture that values people for their positive contribution to work and encourages and supports high standards and interpersonal behaviour and performance. To undertake occupational therapy, and other related, assessment and reviews in accordance with the agreed standards and timeframes.
- To be familiar with Health and Safety procedures and good practice and to implement these in all aspects of the work environment.
- To ensure full compliance with Caldicott principles and data protection.
- To ensure that all mandatory training is up to date.
- To ensure that service users are fully informed about the specific nature of the intervention relevant to them and to ensure that their decisions on consent are informed.
- Provision of moving and handling risk assessments in order to make recommendations on the safe handling of adults with physical disabilities to all those involved in their care and the ongoing re-evaluation of this advice.
- To represent the department of adult and community services in discussion with other agencies at the discretion of senior management.
- To be fully compliant with the College of Occupational Therapy Professional Standards for Practice.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

- Diploma or degree (BSc or MA/MSc level) in occupational therapy from a recognised occupational therapy college
- Up to date registration with The Health Professions Council

- Experience of Assessment, Care Management and Supporting People to take risks safely
- Specific knowledge of different Adult Client groups
- People Management skills and the ability to motivate, supervise and support staff to consistently achieve and exceed personal and team objectives
- Commitment to Continued Professional Development
- Work with the private and voluntary sector in supporting excluded groups
- Experience of working in a Multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to analyse, conceptualise and implement change
- Implementing Person Centred Approaches
- Up to date knowledge of the issues facing adult social care and commitment to customer satisfaction
- Understanding of Advocacy and User involvement issues
- Develop and maintain communication with people on difficult matters, issues and ideas and/or in difficult situations
- Fieldwork educator experience
