Typical activities will include:
To lead health and wellbeing initiatives and promote the good health of UK employees.
To monitor absences due to ill health, and to put in place programmes which minimise the causations of absence from work.
To identify business needs across all UK sites that can be affected by OH and provide a service that meets those needs. To be achieved by attending senior level H&S and HRM meetings.
Working with the HR team, to ensure payroll is correctly instructed to make or cease making sickness absence payments.
To keep abreast of current legislation, interpret the impact this will have and inform the business of actions required. Influence the business to implement actions that will ensure legal compliance.
To identify good practice and encourage a culture in which it is embraced, and adopt ideas to ensure best practice is followed.
To set a budget that allows the delivery of the above and to then manage the service so that it is delivered cost effectively and within budget.
Manage the delivery of the annual long service awards.
Manage third party suppliers of nursing and medical services.
Provide specialist advice and guidance to individuals, business customers and HR colleagues.
Manage the established team of highly experienced OHAs and OHPs.
Work closely with SHE and HR colleagues as well as with the business.
Travel health is a primary focus (including medicals and vaccinations) so experience of travel medicine is essential.
Provide proactive case management.
Manage assessments for return to work.
Maintain OH records in a secure and confidential manner.
Manage the health surveillance programme as required under Health and Safety legislation
Other duties within the scope of OH.
The successful candidate will have the below skills:
RGN and MSc/BSc or Diploma in Occupational Health.
Significant OH and relevant management experience.
Clear understanding of professional/clinical governance.
Demonstrable communication skills with the ability to influence the thinking and behaviours of others internally and externally.
Ability to engage across all levels of the business and successfully manage stakeholder relationships.
Proven resilience in an OH environment to deal with the demands of the role.
Project delivery skills.
Candidates must be willing to undergo a security vetting procedure.
