OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH ADVISOR - RGN/REGISTERED GENERAL NURSE, OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH, MEDIAL ASSESSMENTS, MICROSOFT WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT

An RGN qualified Occupational Health Advisor with Occupational Health, Medial Assessment, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint experience is required to work on a twelve month contract with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Preston.

OVERVIEW OF THE OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH ADVISOR CONTRACT ROLE

The post holder will support the delivery and promotion of a new comprehensive Occupational Health Service for all employees through providing comprehensive clinical support services to the Occupational Health team.

The post holder will support the development and delivery of our client's Wellbeing Strategy and will assist in the development of the service, occupational health policies and procedures within the Occupational Health Department in conjunction with other Nurses, Health Advisors, Physiotherapist and Occupational Health Physician.

Under the direction of the Occupational Health Practice Manager, the post holder will:

- Assist in delivering an effective Occupational Health service to all employees
- Carry out Health Screening and thereby assessing employees' fitness to carry out their work tasks following company processes
- Test for all Site Health Surveillance. For example HAVS, Audiometry, Respiratory, ECG, Venepuncture, etc.
- General medicals will include for example injections/inoculation, travel health clinics, etc. and visual display Unit eye screening checks
- Assist in delivering case management with HR, line management and relevant stakeholders
- Liaison with Occupational Health Physician and other specialists to effectively manage long term sickness absence
- Maintaining and inputting data into Occupational Health systems in line with agreed processes
- Compose, produce and send out clear and concise occupational health reports, letters and other correspondence as required
- Contacting employees and potential employees in a courteous and professional manner to arrange consultations as required
- Effectively manage medical records in line with relevant Data Protection legislation and Access to Medical Records Report Act 1990
- Filing, photocopying and scanning Occupational Health reports, letters and other correspondence and saving them into case files as required
- Professionally dealing with messages, ensuring all urgent communications are dealt with efficiently
- Maintain patient confidentiality in all instances
- Create, monitor and evaluate systems to develop new and successful ways of working
- Maintain and develop personal skills in accordance with the needs of the post
- Advise and assist managers in the completion of referrals

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH ADVISOR CONTRACT ROLE

- Must be Registered General Nurse (essential requirement)
- Essential Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Registered with NMC as Specialist Community Public Health Nurse in Occupational Health
- Industrial experience required
- Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Evidence of previous occupational health experience in a similar setting
- Knowledge of Occupational Health polices and procedures
- Time management skills
- Flexible approach and attitude to work
- Ability to deal with a range of people politely and appropriately, some of whom may be persistent or difficult
- Excellent and confident telephone manner
- Diary management
- Good interpersonal skills, both oral and written
- Good organisational skills
