JOB DESCRIPTION
The post holder will support the delivery and promotion of the Occupational Health & Wellbeing Service for all our clients employees through comprehensive case management and providing clinical support services to the occupational health team.

The post holder will support the development and delivery of our clients Wellbeing Strategy to deliver a proactive OH service aimed at improving employee Health & Wellbeing. The post holder with minimum guidance and supervision will assist in the development of the service, occupational health policies and procedures within the occupational health department in conjunction with other nurses, health advisors, physiotherapist and occupational health physician.

Under the direction of the occupational health team leader, the post holder will:
Promote and deliver an effective occupational health service to all company employees and potential employees across MAI sites
Develops and establishes occupational health standards and policies and assists in the development of protocols and procedures at operational level
Develops and leads on safe and competent practice
Develop self and others through continued professional development activities
Implement and lead on departmental occupational health audits
Support and deputise for the team leader as and when required, leading the team on a day to day basis
Provide clinical supervision and support staff development in practice in line with RCN Guidance on Occupational Health Nursing: Career & Competence Development (Sep 2011)
Utilise experience of shared case management to monitor and assess sickness and absence, construct OHN care plans and support the rehabilitation of employees as part of a holistic "total management" approach, maintaining good communications with HR and line managers
Liaise with external/internal agencies to support rehabilitation and early return to work (physiotherapists, occupational therapists, occupational physicians, general practitioners etc)
Analyse data and identify trends in sickness absence, generate reports and act upon reports provided by others
Work with the employee/line manager to develop work modifications to enable fitness to work, taking into account the recommendations in the "Fitness to Work Statement"
Collaborate with the general practitioner and HR departments to support and facilitate return to work following ill health and disability

Education, Training And Experience Required To Do The Job
Must be Registered General Nurse (essential requirement) Part 1 of register
Registered with NMC as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Occupational Health) - Part 3 of register
Academic and technical knowledge of risk assessment through personal and professional development, with knowledge on case law, EU legislation, impact of devolution and operational strategies
Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Evidence of previous occupational health experience in a similar setting (minimum 5 years)
Knowledge of occupational health polices and procedures
Time management skills
Flexible approach and attitude to work
Ability to deal with a range of people politely and appropriately, some of whom may be persistent or difficult
Excellent and confident telephone manner
Diary management
Good interpersonal skills, both oral and written
Good organisational skills
