Nursing Assistant

EXPERIENCE LEVEL: 1-3 Years
EDUCATION: High School/G.E.D.

Basic Function:
Under direction, perform services and duties necessary to provide assistance in accordance with nursing objectives for adult day services clients.

Responsibilities:
- Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland.
- Assist with health checks (blood pressure, pulse, weight).
- Report any mental and/or physical changes observed in clients.
- Assist in the implementation of the wellness and activities programs as needed.
- Clean up bowel and bladder accidents. Assist clients with personal hygiene as needed.
- Implement the infection control program.
- Routine toileting of clients.
- Assist clients to stand, sit or walk (according to proper lift procedures).
- Assist with meals as needed.
- Perform Child and Adult Care Food Program duties as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
- Combination of education and experience normally represented by a High School Diploma or equivalent with one year of related work experience.
- Must have six (6) months previous gerontology experience.
- Current certification as a STNA or attained within six (6) months from date of hire.
- Must have good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be well organized, detail oriented and have the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to show patience and courtesy when working with people.
- Ability to work with diverse client population and community organizations as well as staff at all levels.
- Good working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software
- Ability to work as a member of a team required.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, squat and reach above head.
- Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Must be able to physically assist partial weight-bearing clients to stand, sit, or walk.
- Final applicant is required to be fingerprinted to complete background check.
