Nurse Specialist Alcohol Liaison

Eingestellt von Turning Point

Gesuchte Skills: Support

Projektbeschreibung

Please note this is a fixed term contract for two years.

At Turning Point, we support people across the UK with substance misuse. Working in partnership with Public Health Medway, Medway Foundation Trust and Kent Medway Partnership Trust, we've created a brand new two-year pilot service to target the reduction of hospital admissions related to excessive alcohol related consumption. Making a real difference to people's lives, you'll lead the development of this specialist hospital-based service that identifies and works with patients who have been admitted to Medway Maritime Hospital and need support to overcome alcohol misuse.

As Alcohol Nurse Specialist, you'll champion and shape this new alcohol misuse service, supporting patients with alcohol related problems and diseases. Visiting patients in a variety of wards and units, you'll carry out specialist assessments and create person-centred interventions and strength-based recovery plans. Your experience of helping people with substance misuse and alcohol problems will enable you to provide advice, talk about the different options available and work with patients and their families to develop effective care plans to encourage continued effective treatment and support on discharge from hospital.

Beyond this you'll train and support the hospital team to improve their understanding and give them the confidence to respond to alcohol related problems. This will involve implementing a screening tool and setting up a variety of protocols for the hospital team ranging from assessments and harm reduction to prescribing, patient discharge and managing challenging behaviour. Take on this exciting challenge and not only will you evaluate the project and develop effective referral mechanisms and processes, you'll promote best practice and oversee information and financial management.

We're looking for a Registered General Nurse or Mental Health Nurse with a valid NMC PIN and the ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of health professionals to support recovery journeys. Your wide-ranging experience of helping people to recover from substance misuse and alcohol abuse will ideally have been gained within a detox, hospital or community setting. A confident decision maker with a flexible approach, you must also be able to prioritise a busy workload, meet current regulations and develop and deliver an exceptional service for the people who need it the most.

Running services on a not-for-profit basis, we invest every penny back into our care - and our people. So, if you're a talented nurse who shares our passion for helping people turn around their substance misuse problems - make the most of your skills at Turning Point. This role will be subject to standard security checks and a driving licence is desirable, but not essential.
