North American Power Analyst - Hedge Fund, London

My Client focuses on analysing statistical and fundamental data from a physical perspective to take their trading positions. Commodity trading is often more about the fundamentals and analytics behind trade execution and this fund build and optimise their own models from scratch, providing a significant edge to their trading. Currently expanding into new markets they require an experienced US Power Modelling Analyst to own that space. The successful incumbent will develop North American electricity pricing models from a fundamental stand point, with strong Excel, VBA, C++, or relevant technical skills. The curves you produce will be used to forecast futures prices in the short-term traded horizon. Main responsibilities: * Forecast, on a daily and intra-daily basis US power demand across varying hubs, and therefore model Futures prices * Maintain and improve existing models and set up new models for additional countries when needed. * Provide sound analytical advice to in house traders covering the North American space. Experience required: * Numerate degree - Masters level ideally. * US Power price modelling and forecasting experience essential, from a physical energy major or iBank. * Must have a wide-breadth modelling toolkit - Excel, VBA, C, Matlab, and/or other * Fundamental market knowledge of North American and other markets Their culture at this fund is very relaxed, and staff are judged on the quality of their work rather than time spent at the desk - rewarded with an exceptional bonus-driven compensation structure.
