Projektbeschreibung
OUR CLIENT REQUIRES 2 CONTRACT ENGINEERS FOR A 1 YEAR CONTRACT (PLUS EXTENSIONS) FOR THEIR NETWORK OPERATION CENTRE IN ETOBICOKE.
FUNCTION:
- Monitor, troubleshoot and restore telecommuncations services on a wide range of technologies.
- Act as a controlling authority for telecom related maintenance work impacting the Power System and Commercial networks.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- On a rotating shift basis, assist in the operation of the ITMC by providing front-line support for network issues and provide technical support for reported problems on various telecommunications systems and/or networks, such as LAN/WAN data services, power system telecommunications, voice and commercial or public sector networks.
- Monitor telecom network facilities consisting of microwave towers, and take action accordingly.
- Provide resolution to customers with a goal of minimizing outage duration by working with and requesting escalations with various internal and/or external stakeholders. Escalate network issues or problems to the responsible Team Lead or Manager as required.
- Perform all aspects of Incident Management for all networks on the current ticketing system, including investigation, triage and correlation of alarms. Identify and publish incident reports according to published guidelines.
- Perform the management of all aspects of Telecom NOMS slips and RFCs for all services to provide Real Time power line protection. Perform all aspects of Emergency and Expedited RFCs for all networks.
- Perform impact analysis through the use of various software applications. Document affected services during events.
- Monitor acceptance and alarms testing.
EDUCATION:
- Requires knowledge of electrical engineering specializing in telecommunications.
- Requires current knowledge of emerging telecommunications technologies and commercial services like voice/data/video services, LAN/WAN technologies, etc.
- Requires a good knowledge of English in order to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts involved in accomplishing work objectives.
EXPERIENCE:
- Requires experience in telecom systems and networks.
- Requires experience with the operation, maintenance of fibre optics, wired based transmission systems, PLC and VHF/UHF radio.
This is not a supervisory role.
