Neuroscience Imaging Core Support Scientist

DESCRIPTION:
The successful candidate will work as part of a project team to develop optical microscopy based assays and/or image analysis methods to identify lead compounds as potential candidates for CNS (Central Nervous Systems) therapeutics. He or she will provide training, maintenance and configuration for optical instrumentation housed within the neuroscience research unit's Imaging Core facility. In addition, candidate will contribute to the development of new processes and assay methodologies, in consultation with users around experimental setup and configuration.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Optical microscopy including wide field, confocal and two-photon microscopy; Sample preparation for immunohistochemistry; Live cell imaging experience; Basic image processing; Java, MatLab and Python programming preferred; Mathematics or physics training; Linux experience.

BASIC BUSINESS SKILLS:
Good organizational, record keeping and computer literacy skills; Team oriented with a flexible approach to goal delivery; Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ideal candidate would be a newly graduated PhD.
