Networks Security Consultant

Capita Justice and Secure services are currently looking for a Technical Consultant to work in Exeter on a day rate contract basis.

Capita Justice and Secure services (JSS) are the leading provider of secure, integrated, information based solutions to critical and frontline organisations, both at home and abroad. Capita JSS work extensively as a managed service provider within the public sector and as part of our partnership with Devon and Cornwall Constabulary an exciting opportunity has arisen for an interim Technical Consultant.
Candidates must be eligible to undergo NPPV vetting.

As the Technical Consultant you will be responsible for providing technical advice, guidance and delivery of technical solution on the customers IT Infrastructure. Based at the Police HQ on the outskirts of Exeter, you will work closely with the project managers within Devon and Cornwall Police scoping the technical work that will be undertaken and then actively delivering this for the client.

Key elements of the role will include:
.The provision of technical consultancy to the customer, Project Managers and staff.
.Working with members of the Service Development Team and 3rd parties where appropriate to scope technical implementation tasks associated with the delivery of new or enhanced IT solutions.
.Completing and/or managing technical implementation tasks as scoped to time and quality.
.Where possible ensure technical solutions are supportable within contractual SLA's/KPI's escalate service affecting issues to management in a timely fashion.
.Provision of accurate and considered analysis of issues along with appropriate solutions to meet the client's requirements providing creative and practical solutions to facilitate improved client processes and smooth project implementation
.Planning, performing and documenting testing of new and existing functionality to defined specifications/requirements.
.Ensuring that appropriate levels of capacity have been built into new IT solutions

Essential skills

To be considered for this opportunity, we are looking for excellent communicators and proactive team players with the proven ability to manage multiple work streams.

In addition, the following points are also essential for consideration:

*Analytical Thinking, Technical Knowledge, Problem Solving
*In depth and demonstrable knowledge of a wide range of Microsoft Products, specifically Windows Server and Professional Operating Systems, Exchange and SharePoint
*Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with experience in a project environment
In addition, we require specialism in one or more of the following technical areas:
*Understanding of Thin Client protocols (CITIRX)
*Experience of working within a secure environment
*Knowledge of Firewall and Encryption products, preferably Checkpoint and/or PIX.
*Knowledge of virtualisation techniques eg VMware.
*Knowledge of Solaris system administration
*Knowledge of CISCO networking protocols
