We require a Networks Research & Development Engineer.

Long-term contract, £30.20 p/h Ltd.

*Position Description*

In-vehicle Networks Research and Development Engineer

The JLR Networks Technology Team is responsible for the design, development, launch and sign off of new in-vehicle network architectures and data busses including CAN, LIN, MOST, Flexray and Ethernet. Candidate duties would include:

- Working in a research project team developing the future in-vehicle network architecture.
- Responsible for certain project management, technical and business deliverables.

*Skills Required*

- Shall have expert knowledge of data communication protocols, including TCP/UDP/IP/AVB, and cyber security solutions.
- Shall be qualified and able to lead processes including FMEA, Threat Analysis, Hazard Analysis, and systems engineering.
- Shall have a good understanding of electronics hardware and software design.
- Shall have excellent negotiation skills, ability to build relationships with other departments and suppliers, project management and communication skills, documentation skills, be self motivated and able to work to a high standard with minimal supervision.

*Skills Preferred*

- Candidates should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of vehicle communication networks (Ethernet, CAN, LIN, MOST, Flexray), and network design requirements.
- Shall have an understanding of Electrical Integration concepts such as Diagnostics and SWDL.
- Understanding of the whole vehicle electrical system and the relationships between different features and functions.
- Ability to use vehicle network analysis and diagnostic tools including CANalyser and CANoe.
- Analytical and problem solving skills Technical knowledge and understanding of Jaguar, Land Rover, Ford, Volvo, or Aston Martin "Volcano" networks and "EuCD" electrical architecture.

*Experience Required*

- Prior experience running new technology design projects using a systems engineering approach.
- Design, integration or debug of complex functions spanning multiple ECUs or computers.
- Developing, testing and debugging data communication buses
- Interpreting and understanding communication protocol standards
- Designing and writing engineering standards and test procedures

*Experience Preferred*

- Practical implementation, test, and debug of CAN, Flexray, Ethernet or MOST communication systems
- Electronic systems testing on Vehicle, Labcar or HIL rig Use of eTracker, AIMS and prior experience of JLR vehicle CAN, LIN or MOST networks.
- Previous experience in a vehicle networks design or test role.
- Experience of the JLR TCDS/GTDS process including knowledge of gateways, deliverables and governance

*Education Required*

- Educated to degree level in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science
