Network Support Analyst

NETWORK SUPPORT ANALYST HOUSTON, TX CONTRACT TO HIRE

Based in a Downtown Houston and/or Bellaire, TX location, work as part of a team to provide Network and Telecommunications support to campus offices as well as occasional support for 3rd party sites in Houston area. Be able to work independently to provide skilled data network technical support for installation, configuration, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of telecommunications systems and associated equipment, primarily, Cisco Routers, Switches and Access Points as well as IP Telephony devices. Additional responsibilities will include on-call support for telecom as needed.

Experience with VSAT, Nortel PBX, Voicemail Systems, support for Cisco data network Switches and Key Systems is a plus.

Tools, laptop, cell phone and pool vehicle provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Provide data network installation and support services including Router and switch configuration, setup, installation and maintenance.
- Provide telephone installation and support services including connection and voice mail setup.
- Perform troubleshooting and MAC support for all data/telecom equipment.
- Diagnose, test, repair cable/wiring problems (wiring closet to desktop; and backbone).
- Work with Local Exchange Carriers (LECs) and Long Distance carriers to isolate and resolve communications circuit troubles.
- Use Cross Functional ticketing system (Remedy) for reporting, documenting, and tracking problems as well as internal billing and inventory control.
- Provide on-call after hours trouble support on rotating basis; some weekend work.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Five plus years in Telecom support experience; Telco experience a plus
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; move material in cart
- Possible (rare) overnight travel may be required
- Ability to climb, bend, stoop, walk and stand for long periods of time
- Use of hand tools, computer, electrical circuit testing equipment
- Excellent driving record
- High School diploma or GED
- CCNA desired
