Network Support

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Monitor WMS network element alarms using various computer based tools.
- Identify alarm causes and take immediate initial action to resolve alarm conditions.
- Identify service-affecting and non-service-affecting alarms.
- Determine when problem escalation is appropriate and take immediate action as necessary.
- Work with personnel to identify causes of satellite or connectivity interruptions.
- Document all alarms with alarm condition, root cause found, and problem resolution procedure.
- Frequent interaction with WMS staff, MTN, Vendors, Cruise Lines and shore side customers is required.
- Monitor, manage and troubleshoot network devices.
- Utilize network management tools to identify network outages and work with various vendors for resolution.
- Develop and evaluate network performance criteria and measurement methods.
- Prepare the analysis of the short term or long term capacity needs for wireless and Wireline infrastructure.
- May conduct network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies.
- Study and forecast traffic drivers to determine short and/or long term capacity needs.
- Recommend strategic network architecture, plan and network evolution policy decisions in support of corporate initiatives, customer demand, technology changes, economic and service reliability criteria.
- Evaluate new and emerging technologies for addition and/or application to existing network systems.
- Conduct economic and population growth studies to determine impact on network capacity and development plan projections.

SKILLS
Ericsson RBS, MSC, BSC, Ericsson OSS, UNIX required; Must be able to communicate with clarity via telephone and email. Must possess good interpersonal skills and be able to contribute positively to team objectives; a team player. Able to maintain a professional demeanor in a highly charged environment. Associate's degree in electronics, math or computer science and/or equivalent job experience. PERL Scripting, CISCO CNA, IT background desired. Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Unix/Linux. Understanding of communications networks; telecommunications background a plus.
