Network Software Engineer Linux

Our client is a HUGELY POPULAR COMPUTER COMPONENTS MANUFACTURER seeking a candidate capable of using a cluster of Servers to operate collectively as a single network Router without specialized hardware. The cluster should be able to process packets with a comparable performance to the hardware Router. The Engineer in this contract position will work on writing network applications running in a Linux environment to communicate with the network driver and to the different nodes in the cluster.

OVERVIEW

- Design and divide the implementation task into subtasks.
- Implement the tasks and subtasks in Linux.
- Conduct measurements and unit/system testing.
- Debug using appropriate tools.

REQUIREMENTS

- 3-5 years of related work experience and senior-level skills in the areas below
- Working knowledge of network testing and debugging environments
- Experience with software tools to diagnose debug software and firmware issues
- Application development experience in a Linux environment
- Strong working knowledge of fundamental networking technologies, such as Ethernet, TCP, IP, routing protocols and associated areas
- Exposure to scripted languages (eg, Perl, PHP, Ruby, or Python)
- Demonstrated strong written communication skills to document project results

ADDITIONAL SKILLS (NICE TO HAVE):

- Knowledge of software Router packages (eg Click Modular Router, Quagga Routing Suite, etc.)
- Network driver software development experience
- Implemented network service (eg deep packet inspection) with Linux
