Network Security Engineer - Cisco PIX - ASA Migration - Antwerp Region

ESSENTIAL:

Previous experience in migrating from Cisco PIX to new Cisco ASA Firewall platform.

22 Firewalls need to be replaced.

Understanding of the Cisco syntax is key as the coding for PIX is different to ASA and there are gaps and overlaps in the existing Firewalls.

Strong documentation skills - need to ensure it's well documented for future reference.

Job description:

The Network security engineer will take the lead in technical design and oversee execution of actual implementation done by our global network partner. The consultant has in-depth knowledge of both old and new Cisco Firewall code and has proven experience in similar migration efforts. He will be part of a global project team, with both resources of the client and our network partner and will report to the network manager, who is based in Belgium.

The consultant can work efficiently and simultaneous on various tasks, where priorities may be revised occasionally, while still meeting the agreed deadlines. Punctual and documents his/her work with network diagrams and other technical documentation.

Using his/her past work experience, he/she knows how to read and understand Firewall policies, by looking at the running configurations on the Firewalls, and can correctly interpret optimizations suggested by the Firewall analyzer. Where necessary, he/she manually writes Firewall scripts (ACL's).

Replacement of End of life Firewalls in the datacenter where EOL Cisco Pix Firewalls will be replaced by new Cisco ASA models. Scope of the project is to clean up and optimize the Firewall rule base and migrate them to the new Firewalls. These EOL Firewalls are also used to InterconnecT the client with their business partners () in a secure way, all these connections need to be moved to the new to be build environment and each business partner connection needs optimized and documented.
