Network Security Engineer

My client is a leading global telecommunications organisation and for their location in Amsterdam I am looking for a Network Security Engineer for an initial 6 month day rate contract.

The ideal candidate for this role should have a strong background (4+ years) in delivering network Security and Application Delivery Solutions. Current experience with a minimum of 2 in/with several of the following platforms/vendors: Juniper Firewall, Bluecoat Web Application Proxy, Checkpoint Firewall, F5 Networks LTM/GTM/ASM, Cisco ASA VPN

Planning migration activities, risk assessments, impact analysis;
-

Implementation/configuration of appliances and services on the customer devices;
-

Contributing to Life Cycle Engineering activities (hardware and software);
-

Tier4 operations support, problem management, capacity planning;
-

Knowledge transfer;
-

Test plan/strategy development;
-

Participate in design sessions, provide input to project management and presales consultants regarding solutions, budget and implementation approach;
-

Team with presales consultants and solutions architects as a subject matter expert;

Ensure proper documentation of policies and procedures for each assigned project.
-

Assess customer requirements for Security and Application Delivery technology initiatives and recommend appropriate solutions.

Contribute in providing a high quality, high availability security environment.

Required:

-

Four (4) years of delivery responsibility in the Network Security and Application Delivery arena.
-

Experience in supporting and implementing Juniper, Bluecoat, Checkpoint, F5 and Cisco security device platforms.
-

Demonstrable experience on Cisco routing and switching devices.
-

Experience with Juniper NSM, F5 EM, Checkpoint P-1 management platforms.
-

Experience in implementing and troubleshooting complex security solutions in a complicated and business-critical network.
-

Experience in preparing implementations, risk impact analysis, avoiding outages, creating roll-back plans.
-

Contribute to vulnerability management process, by signalling and reporting, providing solutions to mitigate risks limit impact or provide workarounds.

Interacting with customers, translating customer requests into technical and functional requirements. Acting as an intermediary.

Good understanding of both written and spoken English.

In-depth knowledge of the following protocols: TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP. At least intermediate level knowledge of the protocols and protocol layer: HTTP, SSL, OSPF, BGP, VPN, OSI;

Familiarity with load balancing algorithms, persistency, SSL offloading/onloading;
