Network Performance & Optimisation Engineer (3 Month Contract)

Scope of the Role

- Evaluation, optimisation and performance improvement of a 2G/2.5 & 3G Access network.
- Ericsson/NSN 2G & 3G RAN experience and in-depth Knowledge essential (to include NetAct, OSS, Bus Objects, Associated Tools)
- 2G BSC and 3G RNC performance monitoring to include analysis of worst offending cells on network
- Analysis of UMTS or GSM networks and performance measures
- Experience in Pre and Post Drivetest processing with knowledge of both TEMS & Actix post processing tools.
- Troubleshooting and resolution of trouble tickets, support for network operations for fault resolution
- Physical optimisation of NodeB and BT sites
- Network AFP and SC planning & implementation
- Cluster optimisation of live network to improve coverage and end user performance (QOS) for 2G/2.5G/3G network
- Optimisation of key routes to meet required KPI's
- Planning of neighbours, analysis of handover statistics and handover optimisation
- Neighbour optimisation to improve mobility within the network for both Intra and Inter System Handovers
- Radio network parameter tuning
- Performance Tuning to assist Capacity Solutions
- Acceptance of new sites delivered by the network rollout programme
- Radio feature trial, implementation, reporting and project management
- Scope, review and approve reports/presentations on any trials/recommendations prior to delivery to customer.
- Global feature and Parameter testing/tuning (Provide direction on trialled feature implementation onto the relevant network)
- Build strong relationship with all Internal/external customers and Vendors as required
- Local Benchmark analysis of 2G/3G Network (to include Drivetesting)

Role Deliverables

- Maintain accurate Database records and ensure all changes are recorded accurately
- Performance improvement in KPI's for associated tasks/work completed
- Timely Delivery of all reports as per SLA requirement in Process Interface Manual
- Timely & Effective completion of all T/T, KPI & Top N analysis with recommendations for performance improvement
- Delivery of at least performance improvement initiative per Quarter within remit

Skill Attributes

- Will have a formal third level qualification in a technical related discipline
- Will possess a significant relevant experience in a Technology related area, with a proven track record
- GSM/UMTS expertise with Ericssons/NSN Equipment - minimum of 7 -10 years working on Ericssons networks
- 2G,2.5G & 3G Network Architecture and Protocols knowledge is essential
- Supervision and leading of project teams in the implementation of larger network changes
- Overall knowledge of Ericssons/NSN RAN network with significant knowledge of both Ericssons/NSN CORE & IP network stacks
- To seek continuous Process Improvement & Strategic Efficiencies as part of Managed Services organisation.
- Expertise in Radio Network optimisation with experience in scoping & leading of Network optimisation projects and other radio network performance improvement activities
- Mobile Broadband technology mandatory field of knowledge
- Experience in use of Signal & Monitoring tools, such as Agilent, would be considered a distinct advantage
- Proven track record in striving for continuous improvement and driving efficiencies, whilst maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
