Network Operations Analyst

Our client is searching for a candidate to work in the IT Operations Center. The duties will include working with other analysts within the IT Operations Center and performing 2nd level triage and remediation. This analyst will have responsibility for maintaining the reliability of the Backup and Restore platforms utilizing the standard Software and Hardware deployed for this environment. A background working in IT Operations environment is recommended.

Primary Job Duties:
1. Primary responsibility is maintaining the IT Backup and Restore Software and Storage Units.
2. Ability to follow documented processes.
3. Perform standard diagnostics to remediate detected/reported backup failures
4. Perform scheduled configuration changes (SW/HW).
5. Work with groups within IT Infrastructure and IT Applications in resolving problem issues.
6. Document alarms and process for use by other analysts within the IT Operations Center.
7. Must be flexible with O.T. and possible shift changes to cover for vacation/sickness.
8. Maintain/update ITOC standard operating and escalation procedures, personnel contact lists, and other ITOC documentation as directed by ITOC leadership.
9. Prepare IT network and systems performance reports and operating statistics as directed by ITOC leadership.

SKILLS

- Experience in running and maintaining an Enterprise Storage Backup and restore environment within a large distributed environment.
- Experience with Tivoli Storage Manager
- Experience with Veritas Netbackup
- Proven skills in troubleshooting and resolving problems with a large scale IT distributed systems.
- Ability to correlate problems with causes, and involve higher level technical personnel support personnel, as needed, for timely resolution of IT incidents.
- Ability to compile operating data/statistics and prepare performance reports
- Knowledge and familiarity with Windows 2OOO/2003/2008, XP. (MCSE a plus)
- Knowledge and familiarity with Unix Platforms (Solaris, HPUX, Linux/Redhat)
- Knowledge and experience with AD, DNS, DHCP

Desktop Skills:
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite

Other IT Skills:
- Familiarity with change management practices in an IT operating environment
- Familiarity with IT network security practices

Additional Requirements:
- The position is a standard prime time business hours shift (Mon-Fri) and would include emergency call-in and Overtime. Some weekend hours may be required.
- May require ability to work at night, off-hours, holidays, and weekends (on-call rotation)
- This position may require emergency call-in during severe storm mobilization and electric system damage restoration.
