Network Migration Engineer

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The customer is undertaking an initiative to transform their global Wide Area Network Service. A project has been started to implement a range of connectivity services to fulfil the business objectives, by replacing current connectivity services and introducing new/innovative network solutions to End Users. Besides implementing the technical network solutions, the project will ensure process integration by implementing integration between service management tools of different vendors in the IT Value Chain.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Migration Engineer will be responsible for defining the technical activities required to migrate each site from the Legacy to the new network. These activities need to be split into detailed steps that are ready for execution by the individual members of the migration teams, spanning multiple vendors. The Migration Engineer will use existing Migration Scenarios and templates, developed by Network Vendor, to build the documentation.
The Migration Engineer will ensure that the documented technical activities are tailored to site specific topologies to ensure completeness and correctness, while limiting operational risks.
The technical activities for execution of the migration will be documented in implementation plans, so called run books', which will be prepared for each individual site migration. The implementation plans or run books' will be reviewed by the architects and handed over to the project leads for execution. The Migration Engineer will work together with Project Leads and coordinators to complete Run Books' with technical information required to successfully execute the migration.
It is important to mention that the role will not contain hands-on configuration activities, as these responsibilities will be executed by 3rd parties. As stated above, the role will be about documenting technical activities, so the candidate must be capable to handle a large quantity of preparation activities, while delivering good quality documentation.
The Migration Engineer will be reporting to the Project Manager of the WAN Transformation Project.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare implementation plan for each individual site, based on a standard template, including the responsibilities per involved individual

Identify technical deviations per site and advice Architects on how to handle each exception

Actively prepare and participate in project meetings
MANDATORY FIELDS
- Experience in creating detailed implementation plans for network migrations
- Strong knowledge on network topologies and network migrations
- Fluent in English
SKILLS AND COMPETENCE
Strong knowledge on network topologies and network migrations, experience with Networks and Service Providers is preferred
Excellent in verbal and written communication (reporting, documentation
Pro-active and persistent personality with focus on details
Hard worker, determined to get the job done
Strong technical and analytical capabilities )
Experience in creating detailed implementation plans for network migrations
Experience with Network transformation
Fluent in English
