Network Management Systems Engineer

Our Client, IT solutions provider, is looking for a NETWORK MANAGEMENT TOOL SYSTEMS ENGINEER FOR TOP TIER GLOBAL FINANCIAL SERVICE FIRM. The contract is initially 3 month long, City of London.

The role splits 70-30 between the hands on technical work, testing, implementation, and development activities associated with delivering large scale network tools solutions, and the associated transformation strategy definition, coordination, consensus building and logistics that surround global team-oriented delivery.

Broad industry knowledge (network management systems expertise) and an excellent basis of network technology fundamentals are required - this is a truly global and very large network that will present significant challenges for even the best candidates. The environment is challenged and facing the realization that transformation and re-invention is required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Develop and roadmap a master NMS Tools strategy for Global deployment and alignment over a multi-year time horizon
- Technical ownership of the tools solution: functionality, usability, process integration, continuous improvement Technical ownership of the Fault Product Suite - currently Smarts based - and its evolution
- Technical ownership of the Configuration product suite - current HP NA based - and its evolution
- Technical ownership of the Performance Management product suite - currently based on Cascade and SevOne - and its evolution
- Functional ownership of inventory and estate management tools - currently bespoke - and their evolution
- Champion best practice in the use of the toolsuite (training, demo's, coaching etc) while prioritising tool ergonomics and usability in designs
- Provide superuser assistance in high severity (all-hands-on-deck) incident management scenarios
- Drive commercial efficiencies: Buy vs build decisions, insource/outsource, onshore/offshore execution; etc.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

- Strong Windows Server Experience and Scripting knowledge
- Ideally Linux Experience with some Oracle and Solaris Exposure
- To be a guru with Excel and to have Apache experience as well
- SQL: MySQL, SQLServer, MS Access,
- PERL, HTML: very experienced
- Financial service experience essential
