Our client is a leading Australian institution looking for a dedicated and experienced Cisco Network Engineer.

The purpose of this role is to work within our Clients Network Team to ensure they receive excellent technical support to maintain and upgrade all aspects of their network and content delivery.

Due to the nature of this contract this is a very hands on role requiring an experienced, technically astute engineer. You will have proven experience from a content delivery background. This role focuses very much around streaming video, multi media platforms, online content delivery. This type of background is essential.

The Network Team is responsible for:
Web Servers
Video Streaming Servers
Application Servers
Storage
Networking

Responsibilities of the team include:

Build and maintain highly available infrastructure and systems for 24 x 7, year round support
Configure and maintain various video streaming and download platforms
Provide Tier 3 escalations for Production issues
Provide mentoring and training for 1st & 2nd level support for systems you are responsible for
Ensure that the systems are recoverable by maintaining Backup Infrastructure and the development and testing of Disaster Recovery procedures where required
Create, maintain and update operational manuals and procedures

Network Engineer Required Skills include:

Knowledge and proven experience in data centre infrastructure for web services deployments
Experience in supporting high volume Internet site networking, including Switches, Routers, Firewalls and load balancers
Proficiency in configuring and supporting Cisco network hardware
A firm grasp and experience in Layer 2 & 3 protocols such as STP, 802.1q, LACP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS and VRF
Thorough knowledge of TCP Internals and other Layer 4 - 7 protocols such as HTTP, SSL, DNS, etc.
5+ years of Network Engineering experience

You must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal as the role involves senior stakeholder interaction and is based at the end Client site.
