Network Engineer - Hands On Team Leader Role

Start week after next preferred - contract of 3 months with possible extensions for the right candidate

The purpose of this role is to ensure our client receives expert technical design, implementation, improvements and maintenance processes to all aspects of their internal network. This Client has multiple smaller outlets and the team requires an experienced Engineer to lead from the front and enhance their personal and team capabilities.

Soft Skills & Experience

Extensive hands-on experience in a technical service desk support role
 Prior experience leading a team a small team of 3 to 10 people
 Documentation/reporting skills
 Customer service and client relation skills
 Strong interpersonal and communication skills
 Good understanding of networking topologies
 Troubleshooting performance related issues

Technical Skills

5+ years of Support Center/problem solving experience.
 Cisco Professional level qualification - (ie. CCNP, CCIP etc) - or better
 Solid understanding of Cisco Routing and Switching products, design and implementation
 Solid understanding of IP Addressing, and related standards/protocols
 Solid understanding of and practical experience in routing protocols (EIGRP, IGRP, RIP, OSPF, BGP)
 Solid understanding of and practical experience in switching protocols/methodologies (VLANS, Spanning-Tree, QoS etc)
 Proven experience working with Cisco IOS Software
 Previous team lead/management experience is essential as this will absorb up to 50% of your time.
 Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking, team environment.
 Prior experience and/or training with regard to the ITIL Services Framework
 Strong co-ordination and problem solving skills.
 Strong Communication skills (both written and verbal)
 Strong Analytical skills

Responsibilities will include:

Ensure ongoing development of the team and manage the day to day execution of their activities
 Provide 1st /2nd/3rd level team support and mentoring if necessary
 Ongoing process improvements through rigorous Incident and Problem Management 
 Ensuring processes and procedure are followed 
 Interface with other internal and external support organizations to ensure timely problem resolution.
