Network Engineer (Data Centres)

I am currently working closely with an internationally recognised, market leading client, who are looking to bring on an experienced Network Engineer on a contract basis. The successful engineer will play a key role in the delivery of a large project undertaken by the client, with potential extension coming once the project is completed. We are looking for a Network Engineer who has over 5+ years' industry experience and has direct and specific knowledge of LAN & Data Centre network operations. The Engineer will be considered as the 'on-site expert' of this, and will be expected to provide full support and consultancy around their network operation.

Role & Responsibilities

*Be the on-site 'subject matter expert' for the client
*Be the point of contact between Architect & Support teams on-site
*Analyse and support current technical solutions for the client's networks and data centres, and provide recommendations for improvements where necessary.
*Design and develop new technical solutions that can be implemented
*Assist in the coaching of support and/or helpdesk teams to find the best solution
*Manage all different aspects of the project and resolve any existing issues
*Liaise with internal teams and stakeholders around the project - provide updates, recommendations, process improvements

Skills & Experience

*5+ Years' experience in the telecom industry for Data Centre Networks & LAN matters
*Associated industry qualification - to a degree level or equivalent
*Independent worker, but comfortable working within a team also
*Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy working environment, under pressure

The successful engineer will possess expert knowledge of:

*Data Centre Network architecture and configurations
*Routing protocols (OSPF, ISIS, BGP)
*Switched network environments (QinQ, spanning tree variants, 802.3ad)
*DHCP, DNS, NAT, SSL, VPN, SSL
*SNMP & Syslog management
*Cisco 'High-End' Routers (7600/ASR9k) and Nexus family (1K, 2K, 5K, 7K)
*Switching LAN
*VLAN
