Network Engineer, CCNP, 3rd Level Support (Intermediate)

NETWORK ENGINEER (INTERMEDIATE)

JOB DESCRIPTION

This role reports to the Team lead for Network and Security and works as a member of a highly technical engineering team in the design, implementation, and execution of infrastructure network projects for Staples. Within the team individual ownership and selfsufficiency is expected, as well as the ability to collaborate with remote colleagues.

Among others you will:

We are looking for a true CCNP-level candidate although certification is not a must.

* Participate in local and European-wide network and infrastructure-related projects in collaboration with project teams.
* Optimize existing network infrastructure, contribute during planning, design and implementation.
* Individually drive smaller projects, plan and implement changes, advise on improvements, replace of network infrastructure components, ensuring stable operation and performance of company networks.
* Develop, implement and maintain policies, standards, documentation ensuring consistency.
* Have an ability to provide architectural and technical consultancy on direction, ensuring network solutions are aligned with mid-term strategies and long-term vision.
* Responsible for delivering 3rd level support, participating in after-hours 24x7 support rotation, and collaboration with the larger infrastructure community.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

* 5+ years of network support and engineering experience preferably in an international enterprise environment
* Fluency in written and verbal English

* Must have experience with:
o ISO/OSI layers and protocols
o Static and dynamic routing especially with OSPF and BGP
o Concepts of DNS, DHCP, HSRP, VLAN, VRF, Port-Channel
o LAN and data center concepts and topologies including industry best practices
o Networking hardware using Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, NX-OS
o ITIL
o Project management skills with elements of budget, vendor and ISP management
