Network Engineer

Skills, knowledge, experience required:

*A higher secondary education and completed higher vocational training in management of information systems, computer science, or related discipline leading to a formal technical or professional certification with 3 years function related experience, or a secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in that discipline leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 5 years post related experience.
*Service minded attitude with a strong interest in working in an international environment.
*Experienced practical telecommunications technician who has worked on a series of tailored and off-the-shelf equipment such as the NET Promina, BBS and VX series of intelligent TOM multiplexer, ATM switched and Router and CISCO Router networking equipment And MPLS.
*Must have at least two years of practical experience in operating or controlling transmission systems including multiplexing equipment; or at least two years of practical experience in remote monitoring and control of a geographically distributed automated SATCOM systems controlling digital transmission systems including broadband radio components.
*Needs to have experience of two years in bandwidth management equipment (SME), in TOM equipment and Transmission and ATM equipment and Transmission, and G703 leased communications circuits.
*Familiar with the G703 standards for transmission and with applications used for central monitoring.

Duties/role:

*Management and operation of the IT infrastructure (typically hardware, software and communications) and the resources required to plan for, develop, deliver and support properly engineered IT services and products to meet the needs of the business.
*Provision of on the job training for civilian and military personnel to ensure transition to the Operations Centre ways of working. Coordination of Authorised Service Interruptions throughout the NATO CIS community. Liaison with service providers for access, maintenance and performance.
