Network Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

To provide engineering service on networks and systems used for research, development, test and operations activities inside the CTO ITC facility and at remote sites.

To be responsible for installation/de-installation, configuration, maintenance and repair of systems, networks and software relevant for operations in the different technical areas of the ITC

To respond to customer change requests/incidents and troubleshoot hardware and software problems affecting performance and usability of the ITC network components.

To be committed to customer satisfaction and demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills, since this position interacts regularly with customers and co-workers at various functional areas within and outside the organization.

Support the ITC operations, with focus on IP Networks & systems to ensure the team meets its timely deliverables

Operational support - Support the design, build and acceptance testing of new network components in the ITC. Respond to all situations in accordance with ITC procedures. Analyse, troubleshoot and react to issues promptly and professionally. Ensure the quality of your deliveries. Resolve test & integration issues as required. Proactively detect and report to management any operational threats

Customer support - assist the ITC customers (internal and external) in achieving their business goals by providing high level of technical expertise, customer focus and friendliness, being responsive and accurate at all times.

Administration - contribute to the overall administration of all ITC environments (network equipment, VM infrastructure, storage, systems and software). Produce documentation and use any appropriate means to ensure effective communications of ITC systems, processes and procedures to both internal and external parties. Record and maintain accurate incident and change records and logs

Ensure ITC is adopting and implementing best practices in IP Networks and systems operation. Adapt and develop existing technologies & systems to meet new requirements. Keep updated on related/evolving standards & technologies to maintain technical excellence in your area.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Good Degree in Electronics, Computing or Telecommunications

CISCO certified to a minimum of CCNA, preferably to CCNP level or Juniper equivalent

Knowledge of IP network protocols, VPN and Firewall administration, IP security protocols

Good knowledge of Unix (Solaris) and Windows OS

Good knowledge of virtualization (VMware) and cloud solutions

Good knowledge of IP security protocols and administration

Good knowledge of Load Balancers (F5, radware)

Good knowledge of Checkpoint NG(X) Firewall clusters

Knowledge and experience of SDN solutions would be a plus

Good understanding of Test & Measurement techniques

Knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel and Visio

2 Years direct experience working for a Telco or an environment

Good command of the English language - other languages are a plus

Good inter-personal communication skills, must be flexible and team player whilst retaining the ability to be self-reliant and work unsupervised

Must be able to learn new technologies and techniques quickly - often without formal training

Must have a very high level of self-motivation

Effective time management, communication and organizational skills

Flexibility in working hours

Flexible, structured and stress resistant
