Network Engineer

Synergy Consulting Group is looking for a Network Engineer to place in a long-term contract position with a Fortune 500 company in Pittsburgh, PA.

This position pays up to $80,000 - $85,000 annually.

For this position you must be able to determine user requirements and design specifications for computer networks.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Adjust network sizes to meet volume or capacity demands.
- Communicate with customers, sales staff, or marketing staff to determine customer needs.
- Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs or upgrades.
- Design, build, or operate equipment configuration prototypes, including network hardware, software, Servers, or server operation systems.
- Determine specific network hardware or software requirements such as platforms, interfaces, bandwidths, or routine schemas. Develop and implement solutions for network problems.
- Develop conceptual, logical or physical network designs.
- Documentation and hand-off training to the Command Center staff
- Responding to Incident tickets and Problem Requests
- Must be able to support off-hours on call rotation as required 365 days a year
- Server Patching and Firmware Upgrades as needed to resolve issues
- Software Install/Config/Support as needed to resolve issues
- Troubleshooting experience in the unix/application arenas

QUALIFICATIONS:

- High School Degree and Bachelors degree in computer science/related field required or equivalent work experience required.
- 5 to 7 years experience required
- Ability to work independently and manage one's time.
- Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
- Knowledge of computer hardware as it relates to data storage.
- Knowledge of computer software, such as configuration management software, desktop communications software, operating system software and Internet directory services
- Red Hat Linux and/or Solaris/AIX (Oracle)Administration and troubleshooting
- Oracle/Veritas Clustering
- Virtualization technologies (Zones, LDoms, AIX LPARS, VMware)
