NETWORK ENGINEER

INTRODUCTION

You will join:

- The Information Technology (IT) Department, is providing computing services for all aspects of the laboratory's activities. These require a wide range of technologies and skills including the provision of computing facilities, local and wide area networking, platforms for computing environments, software development, databases, desktop environments and a wide range of system integration and management tasks. - The Communication Systems (CS) Group which is responsible for all aspects of network provision at CERN. We support a campus network (fixed and Wi-Fi) with over 20,000 active devices, a 5Tb/s non-blocking switching fabric for a data centre with over 10,000 Servers, 4,000 of which with 10Gb/s interfaces, and external connections including the world's first trans-border 100Gb/s circuits.
- The Communication Engineering (CE) Section is responsible for Network Communication Engineering, provisioning and configuration (LAN, WAN, HPC networking, and network services like DNS, DHCP).

FUNCTIONS

As a Network Engineer in a small team of highly qualified colleagues, you will:

- participate in the operation and management of the Campus network, the Data Centre network and our long distance, high speed interconnections;
- contribute to the evaluation and deployment of new network services; and
- develop and maintain software tools and administrative procedures.

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED

Master's Degree in the field of Telecommunications, Computer Science (or equivalent). Eligibility and closing date
