Network Engineer

- Initial 5 month contract with a view to extend

An opportunity has become available for a NETWORK ENGINEER to coordinate changes and repairs to the communications cabling infrastructure for this reputable organisation in Sydney's West.

Your duties:

- Respond promptly to requests for additional network infrastructure as well as configuration change requests required to Ethernet Switches, Content Switches, ASA Firewalls, DNS records and DHCP entries and TDM or IP-based telephone systems in accordance with change and release procedures
- Answer network related incidents impacting IT service delivery and act as a point of technical escalation for complex technical incidents
- Provide technical leadership to the design, development and implementation of solutions within the communications network
- Oversee projects to upgrade, improve or expand the wired and wireless network infrastructure and associated voice and data services
- Undertake daily administration and maintenance of various network devices including DNS/DHCP/RADIUS/Proxy Servers, PABXes, IP-Tel Servers, voicemail/ACD/call-accounting Servers, and network and/or PABX management systems

Your background:

- Industry experience in current generation data and/or voice networking using complex diagnostic tools
- An understanding of the ITIL framework
- Strong skills/experience in layer 1 telephone switchboard systems, content switching and network Firewalls
- Expert knowledge and experience in at least one related specialist technical area; Ethernet the TCP/IP protocol suite, DHCP, DNS and RADIUS and/or various telephone signalling and transport protocols and standards).
- A current NSW driver's license, and willingness to travel between sites
