We are currently searching for a NETWORK ENGINEER to work in Fribourg area, Switzerland. This is a fantastic contract opportunity for a multi-national client.
Your missions will be to troubleshoot Cisco Routers, Switches and Juniper Firewalls and support the expansion of nodes internationally as well as administration of the day-to-day operations of the Datacenter and office networks (on call 24 x 7). We are looking for a candidate who is used to hands on work.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and/or Telecommunications, or equivalent
- Excellent French and English
- Current possession of a CCNA or equivalent
- Maintains current knowledge of networking hardware, software, standards, best-practices, and industry trends.
- The successful candidate must be able to troubleshoot and triage networking incidents ranging from physical layer issues up to layer 3 in the networking stack.
- The person in this role must have a working knowledge of layer 2 protocols such as spanning tree, layer 3 networking with IP, layer 4 session troubleshooting over TCP, routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP and network filtering troubleshooting via access control lists and Firewall policies.
- These skills must be applied across a variety of networking platforms including but not limited to Cisco, Juniper.
SOFT SKILLS:
- Must be a self-starter
- Must be able to work on multiple activities and prioritize accordingly
- Must be able to work nights and weekends as the work requires
- Possess excellent troubleshooting and resolution skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
KEY DELIVERABLES:
- Implement and troubleshoot LAN and WAN topologies.
- Manage performance and maintains security of WAN/LANs at an intermediate level.
- Implement and troubleshoot Cabling and Network-Attached Hardware
- Plan and implement upgrades to networks.
- Maintain and support networks to ensure overall availability, capacity and reliability of production networked resources
- Identify and investigate network malfunctions: isolate causes of errors to Routers, Ethernet Switches, Firewalls, cabling.
- Perform routine maintenance on networks: runs cable, installs, etc
- Maintain network documentation, hardware and software inventory and diagrams
