Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following responsibilities and activities will be the primary duties of the Network Solutions Consultant:
Support the development and presentation of network engineering design packages.
Support the Plan, Design, and Implementation activities associated with WAN, LAN, and VoIP projects.
Assist with troubleshooting and problem solving for network and application issues.
Help with implementation of network hardware, including Routers, Switches, wireless access points, VoIP equipment, security appliances, etc.
Create and maintain network documentation as it relates to network topology, equipment, and configuration.
Interact and negotiate with application owners, project managers, vendors, consultants, and contractors to design and implement network solutions.
Make use of standard operating procedures and applications for service, change, and incident management.
Provide technical network engineering leadership to other internal network engineers, contractors, and consultants.
Provide input for enhancements and updates to current network standards and guidelines.
Contribute to the ongoing development of change management templates and repeatable processes.
Assist in the development of network engineering templates for designs and configuration scripts.
Develop processes and procedures to ensure quality and consistency in network design and implementation.

Participate in the network design review process and provide input and recommendations to other network engineers in order to improve compliance against current standards and guidelines.
o Support and coordinate network engineering activities within specific regions.
o Provide support and help to all program and project managers of the Infrastructure Program.
o Assist with detailed resource demand forecasting and planning.
o Participate in program and project related change control activities.
o Provide input and support for budgeting and forecasting for multi-year planning efforts.
o Provide support related to the procurement and staging of equipment.

Provide technical leadership for the Infrastructure Program
o Provide consulting to the Infrastructure Program on technical aspects of the program requirements.
o Attend network design review approval board meetings and provide program related input.
o Support activities for design package approvals.
o Provide input and recommendations to the network planning department.
o Perform routine audits on sites to ensure compliance with project requirements.
o Participate in policy creation and communication of network engineering related policies.

Perform 3rd party vendor supervision, coordination, oversight, and training.
o Conduct regular status meetings and create/maintain vendor related reports and tracking documents. o Participate in Request for Proposal (RFP) and Statement of Work (SOW) creation and review.
o Review and perform pre-approvals of vendor invoices.
o Determine and report on vendor related financial accruals.

Perform data analysis
o Perform financial budgeting and forecasting of capital and operating expenses related to network equipment and labor.
o Perform detailed inventory analysis of network equipment.

Identify and implement process improvement opportunities related to processes and tools.
Assist with collaboration and communication with strategic internal business partners.
Create and provide input on equipment and labor cost models.

Required Skills
Experience with WAN technologies such as Routers, Leased Lines, SONET (OC-3, OC-12, OC-48, etc.), Metro-Ethernet, and MPLS.
Experience with LAN technologies such as Routers, Switches, HA Architecture, Core/Distribution/Access Layer, and other LAN products, features, and protocols.
In-depth knowledge of OSPF, BGP, QoS, and Cisco IOS.
Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching products such as 28xx, 29xx, 35xx, 37xx, 38xx, 39xx, 45xx, 65xx, 7200 and 7500 series equipment.

Basic Qualifications
B.S. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or Management Information Systems, or 5 years of equivalent work experience.
Demonstrate technical excellence, including industry related certifications. Cisco CCIE certification not required but a definite advantage.
5+ years of WAN/LAN engineering experience in a large enterprise environment.
5+ years of experience with Cisco Systems network equipment.
5+ years of experience designing, evaluating, and recommending networking solutions.
5+ years in the networking/telecommunications industry.
5+ years working with telecommunications vendors.
Network design and engineering experience within a healthcare environment.
Experience with large project rollouts and construction projects.

Additional Skills

Although the following skills are not a direct requirement for this particular position they would be considered a definite advantage to prospective candidates:
Plan, Design, and Implement Wireless LANs (WLAN), including Autonomous and Lightweight Access Points (LWAPP) and WLAN Controllers.
Plan, Design, and Implement Cisco Voice Over IP (VoIP) networks, including development of configurations, and migration from PBX/TDM environments.
