Network Engineer

This is a great opportunity to work in a network environment within a Government Department for a short term contracting role.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Support the provision of communications systems technology infrastructure services across Production, Test, Development, Training and Disaster Recovery environments to agreed performance standards. Support the provision, development, testing and maintenance of all communications technology components within these environments including WAN, LAN, wireless network, VoIP and voice systems, devices and media, and Internet gateway;
- Coordinate the provision of communications system support resources and infrastructure to meet customer demand for the resolution of incidents, problems, service requests and business improvement initiatives;
- Support the communications systems service support functions to better practice industry guidelines and standards. Areas include Service Level Management, System Configuration Management, Service Continuity Management, Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Capacity Management, Release Management, Security Management and Financial Management. Develop strategies, polices and procedures to continually enhance the performance of these functional areas; and
- Out of business hours support and other duties as directed.

SKILLS

- Minimum 4 years experience in administering complex network environments, both LAN and WAN;
- Demonstrated experience in network technologies on the key key technologies: Networking, security, Firewall (Cisco ASA), Routers (Cisco), Switches (Cisco), communications, VoIP, government network security, VPN, LAN/WAN and F5 BIG IP LTM; and
- F5 design and implementation knowledge highly desirable, ability to design and migrate web services from existing infrastructure (Cisco CSS), including certificate migration. Ability to assist in VoIP rollout and previous experience in QoS implementation a plus.
