Network Design Specialist - Data Centre Networks, PSN, Cisco, Network Security is required by my client who is based in Holborn, London.

Preferably Security Cleared to SC level.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

- 7+ years technical experience of data centre network, wide area network and local area network infrastructure design, provision and support in large, multi-tenant enterprise scale IT, telecoms and networking environments. Including experience of the end-to-end service life cycle for data networking implementations and network engineering within data centre and infrastructure hosting facilities.
- Familiar with the documentation and configuration of network architecture and design, working within a team of IT infrastructure specialists on virtualised data centre projects, with applied knowledge of industry leading practice. Extensive experience in network security concepts, methodologies, design and implementation is a must.
- Ideally this should include experience of Public Sector Network (PSN) connectivity, services and framework in UK central government, local government or other public sector bodies. This should include a good understanding of transitioning public sector organisations to the PSN, and as such the Code of Connection (CoCo) and/or Code of Practice (CoP) compliance standards and accreditation requirements. Any experience of overseeing the successful accreditation of new network connectivity with the PSN would be advantageous.
- Ideally has good experience of contributing to network services procurement and tender processes as well as the validation of services being delivered.
- Expert knowledge of a broad range of networking technologies, protocols, products and suppliers/vendors, covering Switches, Routers, load balancers and Firewalls. Has deep understanding of network performance and functional troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Ability to liaise and work well with appropriate IT functions in order to develop and validate the network services required, lead the development of the physical networking design and support customers and vendors to enable successful, value for money implementation of all such services.
- Professional and strategic approach to managing and working on projects as part of a team.
- Good client-facing consulting skills and team work ethic, whilst also being highly motivated, self directed and outcome orientated. Able to work under pressure.
- Pragmatic, collaborative and flexible, without compromising rigour and attention to detail.
- Strong personal, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in a progressive, multi-disciplinary team alongside public sector stakeholders at all levels up to and including senior IT management.
- Knowledge and experience of working on large, complex data centre and transformation programmes.
