Network Design Engineer

The role holder is responsible for providing effective design, support and delivery of medium and large projects, dealing with all relevant issues, often without the guidance of the manager. He/she will provide support/leadership in the formulation of network, technology, systems and information strategy and evolution plans. The role holder meets business objectives, solves business problems and furthers business success by applying industry, applications and technical knowledge through the definition of high level solutions. In addition he/she will work proactively both within the business and with the customer strategy team to deliver service developments. The role holder will be responsible for maintaining a good client relationship and satisfaction.Key Responsibilities:

To work on technical projects for their managers or sponsors independently with minimal guidance.

This may involve working alone or as part of a wider project/support team, managing specific tasks.

To engage customers strategy team and develop excellent working relationship with them

To engage project team and understand scope and requirements of all projects

To draft reports and project documentation and make recommendations to managers and project sponsors.

To provide analytical and innovative input to projects as well as support negotiations.

To host and manage workshops/learning sessions with team and customer, if required, to outline design

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

CCNP/CCIE certified

MPLS Network background (Desired, but not essential)

Multiple routing protocol knowledge including BGP, OSPF routing

Scripting and programming eg UNIX/Linux would be an advantage

Mobile Packet Core GGSN, SGSN, RNC, RAN knowledge would be an advantage

Comprehensive knowledge of Routers, Switches and Firewalls

Basic knowledge of 2G, 3G or LTE mobile communications would be beneficial

Significant professional experience.
