WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- The Subscriber Edge Network Architect leads the effort in the creation of standards related to the broadband subscriber edge, both on a regional as well as national level.
- The successful candidate will utilize extensive knowledge and experience with IP standard bodies and associated technical specifications to promote the next generation subscriber access networks, coordinate and lead inter-departmental development of network designs and policies, and develop procedures and schedule lab facilities for testing hardware elements and software feature releases that will be introduced into the network.
- Drive the vision behind Frontier's next-generation subscriber edge to support new services via the High-Speed Internet Access (HSIA) product.
- Conceptualize, test, and document network enhancements to support new products and services, increased network scalability, and network automation activities
- Work with network engineering, provisioning, operations, and IT teams to drive improvements in the network
- Evaluation of hardware, software, network protocols, and new topologies in a network lab
- Support network trials in production after lab evaluation process
- Draft technical documentation in support of engineering, provisioning, and network operations
- Perform fault isolation and hands-on trouble resolution on network equipment as needed

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Experience with BNG/BRAS in a service provider network
- Thorough understanding of IPv4, IPv6, and MPLS protocols
- Thorough understanding of PPPoA, PPPoE, and IPoE
- Thorough understanding of RADIUS and it's relationship with BNG functionality
- Solid understanding of ATM/IP DSLAMs, OLT/ONT, and broadband home Routers (BHR)
- Experience with 6PE and CGN/LSN is desired
- Experience with Juniper (JUNOS and JUNOSe), Cisco, or Alcatel-Lucent BNGs
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex situations and troubleshoot under pressure
- Solid knowledge of a programming language is desired (Perl, Python, C, etc)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written
