Notes:
Responsible for designing computer networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), the Internet, intranets, and other data communications systems. Creates, tests, and evaluates networks.

Primary responsibilities
To implement dedicated Fire, Life Safety, and Security networks, addressing highest risk facilities first. The networks implemented will ensure connectivity from fire alarm control units to the local proprietary monitoring stations is code compliant, meets manufacturers installation instructions, and is in conformance with the product listing. This work will minimize business risk and related liabilities for customer. This resource request is for a full time external network architect role for the project. The network architect will be responsible for the network design of the network(s) to support the fire, life safety, and security systems and hardware.

Required - Experience with IP network design
Required - Experience with fiber network design
Strongly Desired - Experience with fire, life safety, and security hardware and software
Nice to Have - Experience with building and fire codes, as well as related product listing (eg UL864)

Analyze business requirements to develop technical network solutions and their framework. Design, test, and inspect data communications systems. Perform network modelling, analysis, and planning. Install hardware such as cables, hubs, Routers, and wireless adaptors. Develop technology roadmaps. Configure network drivers for software. Analyze, engineer, and execute software functions. Develop test plans, implementation plans, and project timelines for various projects. Manage technology vendors. 'stay abreast of how technology infrastructures are currently impacting and driving competitors. Determine production direction. Write functional requirements/specifications documents. Assess vendor development/test strategies. Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems. Upgrade network hardware and software components as required.
