This is permanent career opportunity with a Calgary-based oil and gas company.
Overview
Our Client is seeking a Network and Security Specialist.
Reporting to the Infrastructure and Operations Lead, the Network and Security Specialist is responsible for all aspects of networking and will have a shared responsibility for infrastructure security.
What is of key importance in this role is that our Automation & Technology is NOT a &traditional& IT Team, but rather a Technology Team that works as peers with their key business units. The team is very collaborative and the pace is very dynamic, contains no Legacy technology, highly virtualized, and using the latest technology.
Being a highly automated company, the team is Embedded in virtually all aspects of their business operations and project activities. The IT Team is an equal, fully integrated business unit, working daily and hand in with their Projects, Operations, Engineering, and G&G/Land/Drilling business units.
Based on this, we do not need a classic IT technologist that is product bias, product specific, and waiting for &exacting requirements&. We want somebody with a passion for creating technical solutions tightly integrated and matched to the business goals and operations, and someone who relies on &first principles proven resource that looks for things to fix before they break
- Above average focus on details and must have a continuous improvement approach to work
- Obvious desires to learn, grow, and strive to perform at an above average level
- The flexibility and adaptability to take on new projects and challenges as they arise
Relevant Technical Skills:
- HP Procurve, N-TRON Switches
- BlueCoat ProxySQ
- Fortigate Firewalls
- VMWARE View (remote access and virtual PC/consoles)
- Microwave and fibre optic field network connections (4 current field sites and 4 &corporate sites&)
- Shoretel VOIP system
- Aerohive Wifi technologies majority of the current infrastructure is virtualized (VMWARE, Netapp, VLANs, VMWARE View, Data Domain, disk backups only).
