Netbackup Administrator

NETBACKUP ADMIN LOUISVILLE, KY CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY

The NetBackup Administrator will be primarily responsible for ensuring the day-to-day success of data backup, recovery and media management. The ideal candidate will have previous NetBackup and media management experience in a corporate environment.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Manage NetBackup production environment to ensure success of backup jobs.
- Perform first/second level troubleshooting of backup failures.
- Maintain a working knowledge of a wide range of applications and systems.
- Basic RMAN Scripting.
- Perform 1st, 2nd and 3rd level 24x7 production support on storage and tape backup environments.
- Demonstrate a service oriented approach, eg focus on and deliver assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Work effectively in a team based environment and support the team on all levels to get the job done.
- Solve most issues and/or challenges independently (with minimum support or supervision).

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

- 2+ years NetBackup experience in a multi-platform, enterprise environment (NBU 6.5 or 7.0 experience preferred)
- Experience with AIX, Solaris 10, RHEL, Windows, Oracle RMAN and SQL Agents
- Proficiency with NetBackup command line and GUI
- Must have administrated NetBackup in large environments
- Must be fluent in the NetBackup CLI and troubleshooting debug logs
- Experience with Quantum i2000 libraries and Data Domain knowledge, Backup to Disk, and De-dup preferred
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and resolve urgent issues
- Must enjoy working in a high pressure and fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of Internet protocols (eg HTTP, FTP, IMAP, POP, SMTP, DNS)
- Strong Windows 2000/2003/2008 and Unix client support experience
- Must be highly skilled and proficient in problem solving and able to follow a systematic troubleshooting approach
- Excellent communication skills in working with technical and non-technical people and the ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships among all levels of an organization
- High degree of self-motivation and independent decision making, strong work ethic

PREMIER CANDIDATE FOR THIS POSITION WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS/BACKGROUND, PREFERABLY ON BOTH WINDOWS AND UNIX PLATFORMS:

- 4+ years experience with minimum of 2 years administrating and troubleshooting in a NetBackup 6.x environment
- Veritas Shared Storage Option (SSO)
- Veritas NetBackup Advanced Client, SQL Agent and RMAN
- Veritas Backup to Disk (B2D)
- Virtual Tape Libraries (VTL) Experience
- NetBackup 7.0/6.5
- Strong experience with NetBackup in a SAN environment and SSO on UNIX/Linux/Windows platforms
- Broad and deep experience configuring backup storage hardware including tape libraries, tape drives, VTL, and disk storage units within NetBackup
- Experience on de-duplication storage devices using NetBackup
