Net Software Developer

Background

Our Central Government client is lookig to take on a .NET Developer to work a 4 month contract based in Bristol.

We require some technical assistance by way of an experienced .net developer to work with the current in-house development team to provide technical support during the rollout of the Appeals Casework Portl.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

The contractor will provide experienced knowledge of web development using ASP.NET and C# development. The successful candidate will quickly become familiar with the developed solution (Appeals Casework Portal) and their primary responsibility will be providing technical support during the initial live implementation phase of the application. This will involve carrying out development activities, particularly investigation and resolution of issues arising during and immediately following the rollout period. The successful candidate will also provide assistance and skills transfer to the existing in-house project development team.

The contractor will work as part of the internal development team on the following activities:
*carry out technical development in ASP.NET, C# and SQL;
*provide technical support during the initial live rollout of the application;
*identify and resolve any issues arising following the initial live deployment;
*assist the dev team with the development of any Stage 2 enhancements/upgrade work
*liaise with testers and business analysts to resolve identified application development issues;
*liaise with system administrator/DBA/network team to resolve identified application deployment/environmental issues;
*provide skills transfer to in-house development team;

Skills/Experience Required

The successful applicant will demonstrate the following essential skills:
*Thorough knowledge and experience of developing web applications using C#.net, web services and SQL;
*Experience of working in a technical support role.
*Familiarity with, and experience of, developing solutions using SQL Server 2008 and .net 4;
*Familiarity and experience in using Windows Communication Foundation (WCF);
*Ability to resolve technical issues to tight timescales and demonstrate good problem solving skills;
*Strong communication skills, and ability/experience in carrying out skills transfer to less experienced developers;
*A minimum of 5 years C# .NET development experience.

The following skills are desirable:
*Familiarity and experience in using Model view controller (MVC);
*System Administration experience (to include IIS configuration);
*A working knowledge of infrastructure
