Navigational Specialist

NAVIGATIONAL SPECIALIST - PORTON DOWN - NAVIGATION, ELECTRONIC WARFARE, GALILEO SIGNALS, GNSS, PNT SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGIES

This position is a part time contract: 3 days a week over a 2 year period. Ideally this candidate will be DV cleared prior to starting this position. However candidate who are eligible for clearance are welcome to apply.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE NAVIGATIONAL SPECIALIST:

- Detailed working knowledge of the design and structure of the Galileo signals including the Public Regulated Service (PRS).
- Detailed working knowledge of the design and structure of other GNSS signals.
- Detailed working knowledge of the design and architecture of GNSS receivers
- Detailed working knowledge of PNT systems and technologies
- Detailed working knowledge of military systems and platforms navigation systems
- Detailed working knowledge of military and defence structures and environments
- A technical, scientific or engineering background and delivery track record
- Organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Previous experience working in the European Environment and working with Dstl/DE&S/MoD

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Deliver specialist technical advice and support to the DE&S RGNS programme, specifically as the Technical Partner to the EMR elements
- Deliver specialist technical advice and support to the UKSA engagement with the Galileo programme, specifically in the areas of the Public Regulated Service (PRS), Common Minimum Standards (CMS), Security and Signal in Space.
- Deliver specialist technical advice and support to a sensitive classified programme
- Transfer specialist navigation programme, research and historic knowledge to other team members
- Lead the upskilling of team members via mentoring and knowledge transfer to the standard necessary to support long term delivery and capability sustainment
- Support the further succession planning to sustain and grow the Dstl/MoD navigation capability.

If position is based in Corsham, which is commutable from Bedford, Reading and Oxford.
