Naval Architect / Structural Integrity Specialist - Glasgow

Projektbeschreibung

Due to a influx of work our clients a Global Oil and Gas company have an urgent requirement for an experienced Naval Architect / Structural Integrity Specialist to join their organisation.

The position will be based from my clients offices in Glasgow however frequent trips to the likes of Stavanger and Aberdeen will also be a requirement of the role.

The role will be responsible for the day to day Structural Integrity Management of the Shuttle tanker fleet worldwide. Maintaining and developing the long term plans and standards for Structural Integrity Management for shuttle tanker operations.

Main Responsibilities shall include (but will not be limited to):

* Structural responsible and looking after Shuttle Tankers operating in both North Sea and Brazil.
* Answering any structural questions from oil majors vetting departments.
* Preparing documentation packages for structural reviews on request and also managing the SIMS program for our fleets including contacts to independent structural surveyors that we use and SIMS companies Ultra Marine and MIS.
* Working with SIMS reports to create structural dry dock specifications in cooperation with our Vessel Managers, but also dealing with ad hoc required structural repairs, making repair proposals and seeking approval for same with relevant classification societies.

* Structural resource for our Innovation Tendering and Projects group, working on tenders, conversion and new build projects for both shuttle tankers and other offshore units.A key aspect in this respect is to enable knowledge transfer from operations to our project departments on condition of our existing assets and ensuring relevant input towards projects.

We assume at this stage that there is a 50/50 split of the time worked on above tasks.

Knowledge / Skills Required:

* Master's Degree in Naval Architecture or equivalent or extensive practical technical experience in ship repair and conversions
* Proven track record in new building, conversion and repair of tankers.
* Good knowledge of maritime/offshore rules and regulations including authority requirements
* Ability to balance technical, legislative and commercial requirements
* Good English report writing skills and experience, ability to write/draw clear technical instructions.
* Ability to respond positively to customers in an effective manner
* Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to a changing environment
* Ability to work independently
* Familiar with Fatigue Analysis procedures
* Familiarity with Autocad would be an advantage
