Qualifications
English
Cisco certifications: CCNA, CCNP,CCIP and CCDP
One of the following additional Cisco exam: Cisco ASA Specialisation: Firewall, VPN, Secure
A university degree or equivalent experience

Knowledge and Skills
The Senior Network Engineer must prove that he/she has a thorough understanding of these technologies, the ability to configure them, and significant deployment experience
LAN features such as RSTP (and its optimisations), 802.1Q and PVLANs
IP features such as PAT, DHCP, HSRP and OSPF
Qos features such as classification, marking, congestion management, shaping and policing
IPSec, and the ability to configure it in IOS (for both LAN to LAN and Easy VPN connections)
IOS security features, such as reflexive access lists, and Firewall
VRFs
Cisco VPN 3000 series Concentrator, Cisco ASA series and Cisco VPN clients
Network Management tools such as ORION, CiscoWorks, Cacti, SmokePing and Netflow Tracker
Wireless technologies - Cisco Access Points and remote terminals such as bar code readers for inventory management

The Senior Network Engineer must have knowledge of the following:
Cisco 800, 2600, 2800, 2900, 3800, 3900 and 7200 Router series
Cisco 3750, 3560, 2940 and 6500 Catalyst series Switches
Cisco's NAM (Network Analysis Module)
Fluke Netflow Tracker and VPM appliances
Infoblox DNS-DHCP management tools
Network analysers or sniffers for troubleshooting or network capacity planning
The Senior Network Engineer must have the following qualities:
Good communications skills. Excellent English report writing skills.
Solid understanding of the requirements of an overall network management strategy
Strong task and time management skills

Experience
The Senior Network Engineer must prove that he/she has the following experience:
At least 10 years experience in a technical networking or telecoms role, implementing and supporting LAN networking infrastructures
LAN and WAN network design experience
Extensive experience with high-availability and load-balancing solutions for network architectures
Experience of Firewall solutions and understanding of how they are implemented
Extensive experience in managing all aspects of network projects for internal customers
Experience with ITIL concepts
